Cuban Missile Crises:
In 1962, CIA came to know about the Russian Missiles sites in Cuba. So a Cuban crisis came to a head in a US-USSR confrontation over the installation of these Soviet Missiles. The United states was against these Missiles because in 1823 James Monroe had given a doctrine, called Monroe doctrine. According to which western hemisphere is the exclusive area of influence of USA, not of any non-American or European state. But still Soviet Union established influence in Cuba.
24OCT. 1962 J.F Kennedy appeared on t.v and addressed the nation in these words;
"It shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from Cuba against any nation in the western hemisphere as an attack by the S.U on US, requiring retaliating response upon the S.U."
By this time cod war was converted to a kind of hot war. President Kennedy announced a naval Blockade of Cuba. In the meantime two Soviet ships, Komiles and Gregarean war, with missiles were moving toward Cuba. Certainly there was every chance of a nuclear war. OCT 25, 1962 the proposal of UN acting Secretary General Uthant to conduct negotiations between the principals involved in the cuban crises was accepted by President Kennedy and Premier Khrushcher.
OCT 28, they reached an agreement, the terms of the agreement were;

- The Soviet to halt construction of missile base in Cuba and remove weapons under UN supervision.
- The United states to end the blockade or quarantine and give assurance that it would not invade Cuba as soon as Soviet forces and weapons are withdrawn.
